Using the site
Reading EthnoCeleb is free and needs no account. You must be at least 13 to comment or contact us. Please don’t post through bots, try to break or overload the site, or use it for anything illegal. If someone misuses the site, we may remove their posts and block their access.
Comments
You’re responsible for what you post, so please share only what you have the right to share. Your comments remain yours. By posting, you allow us to show them on the site free of charge. This ends when a comment is removed, apart from backups that we keep for a short time. If something you posted breaks the law and someone holds us responsible for it, you cover the resulting costs to the extent you are at fault.
Moderation
We welcome comments that add a source, a record or a family detail. Please stay on topic and treat everyone with respect, including the people on the site and their families. We remove:
- insults, threats and hate, including stereotypes about any ethnicity, nationality or religion
- spam, ads and off-topic links
- private details about people who aren’t public figures, such as addresses, phone numbers or birth dates
- posts that pretend to come from someone else
- anything unlawful, such as defamation or copyright infringement
Comments with links or certain words wait until we have checked them. Every other moderation decision is made by a person. We never edit comments, and replies marked “Editor” come from us. If you left an email address and we remove your comment, we tell you why, and you can ask us to take another look. Spam is deleted without notice.
Reporting a problem
If something on the site seems unlawful, breaks these terms, infringes your copyright or reveals private details about you, please tell us through the contact form or at info@ethnoceleb.com. Include the link, what exactly you mean and why, your name and email address, and a note that your report is accurate to the best of your knowledge. For a copyright complaint, also name your work and confirm that you own it or act for the owner. We confirm that your report arrived, check it promptly and let you know what we decided.
Our profiles
Profiles describe the documented family background of public figures, based on the sources listed on each page. How someone identifies is their own choice. The people on the site have no connection with us and haven’t endorsed it. If you know a better source, please send it through the contact form. We update profiles when the evidence changes.
Photos and other images are under free licenses or in the public domain. Each one names its author, license and source and keeps its own license. We link to other websites, for example our sources, and aren’t responsible for what they publish.
Our content
The texts, data, maps and design of EthnoCeleb belong to us. You’re welcome to quote short parts with a link to the page. For anything more, please ask first. Collecting our content automatically beyond normal search engine crawling needs our permission, and that includes AI training.
Liability
EthnoCeleb is free and provided as it is. We work carefully, but we can’t guarantee that the site is always available, complete or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any damage that arises from using the site.
Changes
We may change the site and these terms at any time. The date at the top shows the current version. If part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies. If you use the site as a consumer, you keep all rights that the mandatory laws of your country give you.
